Polish Kel-met KM 1100 Single-locking Training Handcuffs

These are the Polish Kel-Met KM1100 training handcuffs. They are designed to aid in training officers/security/military on the application of handcuffs, with added safety in the training environment and with the increased speed of not having to deal with keys and double locks.

The fact that they have no double lock, makes this obvious to me that they are not for a complete training of complete standard operating procedure, despite how important double locking the cuffs is. This is clearly just about training people to apply the handcuffs onto the person successfully and then they will follow SOP after it's importance has been drilled into them over and over.

They are stainless steel (more skin-safe than typical plated handcuffs) and use only 1 pawl, since there's no need for multiple pawls for a training handcuff.

It's a nice handcuff and the slider buttons are fairly easy to operate on your own, for safety reasons.

One thing to be aware of is the slider buttons are actually screws. On my pair, one side was very loose and the other was super tight and I was unable to unscrew it even with pliers. But the other side was always loose so I just applied some blue Threadlocker and tightened with pliers and now it feels very secure from accidental unscrewing by hand contact. I would have used red permanent threadlocker but I have none. If buy buy a pair, ensure you check them to make sure they are tight!

I can imagine some people might use these within a bedroom context because of how real they feel (they are real cuffs...) but the fact that they have a super fast way to open them if need-be.

New KEL-MET KM 1001 Polish chain link NATO certified military handcuffs NCAGE: 2034H

These are the new KEL-MET KM 1001 chain link handcuffs in stainless steel, from Poland. I used to have a pair of KM 1000 before, and I thought these were the same but they aren't! These are the newer model used by Polish police I believe, but are also military certified and even have a NATO stock number!

These have a 3 pawl mechanism, some rudimentary anti-shim at the beginning of the pawls and they are made of stainless steel with no coatings, so that they are hypo-allergenic, that means they are more skin-safe for more people than a typical nickel-plated handcuff.

Because these are made from all stainless steel, instead of the typical hardened carbon steel with nickel plating, they are thicker, meatier and a bit more heavy than a typical chain handcuff. They weigh 356 grams.

They have a twisted chain instead of a plain flat chain. This could add some anti-snap technology to make it harder or impossible to "break" the handcuff chain by binding it up.

The double locking area protrudes slightly (though the pin is concave which helps) and it is too narrow for Smith & Wesson key double locking pins on the end of their keys.

These have no back-loading capability, though I was not impressed with their early attempts at back-loading on their rigid handcuffs. If adding back-loading means a handcuff will not double lock on the last solid click, then it should not be added, in my opinion. So I like these a lot.

They have mirrored sides, meaning the keyholes are facing the same way when applied to the wrists in the same downward motion. Some other manufacturers (typically eastern, but there are others) use one mould for their handcuff bracelets and so you end up with one keyhole facing the front of the hands and one keyhole facing the body, which is just goofy and lazy in my opinion!

The 3 pawls tend to act as one single pawl because the internal spring has no split in it, meaning if one pawl is pressed down, all the other 2 pawls will drop also, so this is something that could easily be improved upon by adding a split spring so that not all 3 pawls are controlled by one single spring.

All in all, I like these handcuffs even more than the rigid ones they do.

Blueline by Kel-Met Polish Rigid NATO Police Handcuffs (Improved backloading)

This is the new and improved Kel-Met rigid handcuff, known as model KM 2000. This is a rebrand called BlueLine, which still has Kel-Met stamped on them as well. Made in Poland. Not related to the Chinese "Blueline" brand I overviewed a while back.

The original backloading had an issue where the last 3 clicks could be mistaken for normal handcuff size positions and in this case double locking was non-functional despite being engaged. So after contacting Kel-Met about this, a month later I received the improved model.

It is a rigid handcuff, similarly sized and shaped as British TCH 840 handcuffs. The keyway orientation is different from that of TCH, in that it is sideways similarly how Peerless and Alcyon handcuffs are.

These handcuffs are rigid when left assembled but if you disassemble the plastic grip cover, the two cuffs are capable of swivelling around in place, while staying rigidly connected.

These are made of stainless steel, so cause less or maybe even no allergic reactions on the skin. They are strong and seemingly have no need of ditched jaws, according to Kel-Met. There is a visual outline of the ditches but there is no peg or protrusion that fits inside them.

This is a much improved model in my opinion to the prior model, although I feel there is room for further improvement in that at present only the last click is not safely usable due to not being double locking capable. I have heard this is a somewhat common issue with various basic-backloading handcuffs. But I would like to see this get resolved and maybe improve tolerances on the mechanism so that when double locked the pawl bars are more firmly in place and unable to move.

All this said, I would say this new revised model is a worthwhile handcuff and I would be much happier using this model in a professional context than their original one.

Kel-Met KM 1001 Polish NATO Certified Handcuffs, The Upgraded 1000 model

This is the new updated model of KM 1000 Kel-Met handcuffs.

They are NATO standard and made with Stainless Steel in order to prevent people having a skin reaction to Nickel.

Nice handcuffs but not the most comfortable I have ever tried though...

KEL-MET Military Standard Chain Handcuffs Stainless Steel NATO Certified: NCAGE 2034H

These are NATO standard: NCAGE: 2034H standard chain link stainless steel handcuffs by KEL-MET. They are not, as far as I know, certified by the NIJ. However they are certified by NATO.

However this being the case, I personally believe the box that they come in looks terribly unprofessional, like something that came out of a 1980's children's comic series. Don't be fooled though, they are legitimate NATO certified professional chain-link handcuffs.

The size capacity of these handcuffs is similar to UK Police speedcuffs. The larger size. I can close them one click and easily pass my hand through the hole, something which is impossible for me on "standard" size cuffs.

They are a very solid, smooth operating pair of handcuffs. They use a non-standard key and have 2 pawl bars, so these could be considered higher than usual security although they are pickable in a similar fashion as Alcyon can be. These are Polish handcuffs. So, being made in Poland, I was interested to see the quality as I have never had any from there before. Very well done. I am impressed. Also they purposefully use stainless steel to prevent the chance of skin reactions to nickel that most other companies coat their cuffs in.
